about

This is a Gaelic waulking song, a type of song traditionally sung by women as they treated freshly woven wool cloth by beating it against a table. For fun, we decided to accompany our singing by similarly beating fabric against wooden surfaces as percussion. The lyrics of this song praise a band of raiders sailing to Ireland and returning by the same moon. The second half of the song apparently lists the raiders who died along the way.
